Time to learn the Alphabet
Google has announced a massive organizational restructuring in which its public equity will be reconstituted under a parent company called “Alphabet,” which will replace Google Inc. as the public entity. CEO Larry Page will run the new company, with co-founder Sergey Brin as president, and Sundar Pichai, senior vice president at the search giant, will become CEO of Google.
Google's projects less related to its core internet business — including its investment and human-longevity research arms — are being spun out into separate companies under the Alphabet umbrella, each with its own CEO.
Following the announcement shares of Google went up by 5%, so it seems like investors are happy to learn the Alphabet.
